NW Works is a Seattle-based design studio that provides architectural and interior design services to residential and commercial clients. Founded in 2007 by Eric Walter and Steve Mongillo, it is small in size and focuses on compelling collaborative projects in a variety of fields.
Steve Mongillo and Eric Walter met at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, a major Seattle-based construction company. They share a common design philosophy that combines modern sensibility with architectural simplicity, structure, materials and natural textures, and thinks that the design should have unexpected moments.
Eric Walter holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Washington and a Master of Architecture degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received an AIA Gold Award and received an Outstanding Design Award. Since co-founding NW works in 2007, Eric has been deeply involved in designing and managing almost everything. Prior to joining NW, Eric worked for six years at the Ballard Library, Peace Arch Border Crossing, and several residences in Hawaii, Montana, and California. Now Eric lives with his wife and two sons on the Kitsap Peninsula.
The work of NW Works is guided by a commitment to the power of thought and the tangible passion for material details. Bringing an honest, candid attitude to their work that is unique to the environment, the process, and ultimately the behavior of the building itself. Their goal is to combine the customer's vision, architectural details and craftsmanship to create a lasting, inspiring and enjoyable livable building.
